Huaypo Lake Full Day Adventure

Huaypo Lake is a sheet of water at 3,507 metres in the province of Anta, ringed by farmland with the snow peaks behind it. It sits off the Sacred Valley bus circuit, and you can tell: here you paddle in silence.

The day starts with the transfer to the Chacán sector and a technical briefing before going in. Then guided kayaking and stand up paddle on a lake with no current and no swell — which is why it works just as well for people who have never paddled. Andean buffet lunch at midday. The afternoon is on land: an ATV loop along the rural tracks around the shore.

You will be above 3,500 metres all day. If you landed in Cusco less than two days ago, leave this one for later in your trip; the team carries oxygen support, but acclimatisation cannot be rushed. The dry season, April to October, is when the water is stillest and the view reaches the Verónica and Chicón peaks.
